When designing the house, the intention was to create a space that allows one to recentre. Uncomplicated and clean living spaces help one breathe a little easier. All three bedrooms are sea-facing with the focal point of the house being the living area. It is here where everything is just right for one to reconnect. Kraaines is self-catering, and is fully equipped with state-of-the-art appliances and amenities. It has been done this way so that everything is pleasant and good. One can rather spend time absorbing the heart of Boggomsbaai - uncomplicated, beautiful and humble.
Let us focus on the living room. The built-in braai can double as a fire place for cold winters with a sea view. Enamel potjies beg to be used and enjoyed either inside or on the veranda. The kitchen island (stocked with only the best appliances, cutlery and crockery) and eight-seater dining table allow for ample quality time. There are no walls here, and open-plan living is the order of the day.
Boggomsbaai is known for its mild climate and (mostly) windless days, so naturally a spacious braai area with luxurious seating is needed to honour those perfect summer nights. The kitchen and dining area open onto this space, leaving one with an unhindered view of the ocean even though one is at the back of the house.
Down time is spent on plush couches and views of Boggomsbaai. Here whales and dolphins are regulars, using the quiet and unpopulated bay as feeding grounds. There is, naturally, a television with an external hard drive loaded with movies and music, should one want to indulge in some digital therapy.
Kraaines provides guests with a courtyard equipped with a shower to wash off the sand and sea after a day spent on the pristine and private beach. A rarity is the sense of security that pervades Boggomsbaai. Secure and rather restricted, Boggomsbaai is reached by one road, and two walkways alone lead onto the beach.
The village itself does not provide much (and we prefer it that way), so it is important to come well-prepared in terms of food should you not want to leave (there is no shop here). But, Mossel Bay and its malls are a mere 25kms away. The area provides hiking trails (the Hunter Gatherer trail starts here) as well as ample angling opportunities.
Boggomsbaai falls in a conservation area, so fauna and flora are abundant and pure. Walks along the beach lead to two bathing areas in the mild ocean - perfect for washing away the cares of the city.

Kraaines was designed with finding oneself in mind, so the bed rooms ensure comfortable sleeping on plush bedding. There are no TV’s here - one has the vista of the ocean to admire from bed in the mornings. Plenty cupboard space keeps the rooms uncluttered so that one can focus on what is important - you.
All it takes is one little mind for this room to be transformed into a fort, a ship or a castle. And when all the adventures are over, there are the latest kiddy movies ready and loaded on the external hard drive to while away the last hour of the day. If the group spending time in this room is a little too old for castles and ships, the arrangement of the beds allows for peaceful and unhindered double bunk sleeping - there is ample space to have your own moment of quiet.
